At Mountain Interactive, creating a safe and positive environment for all players—especially children and teens—is one of our top priorities. We have implemented a comprehensive Safety Moderation and Reporting System to protect players from inappropriate behavior, harassment, and other negative experiences. Our moderation and reporting systems are supported by both volunteer moderators and a dedicated employee team. This guide outlines how our moderation system works, what tools are available for reporting issues, and how Mountain Interactive addresses safety concerns.

1. The Role of the Volunteer Moderation Team

The Volunteer Moderation Team is made up of dedicated community members who help enforce rules and ensure that the platform remains a safe space for all users. This team is focused on overseeing in-game activities and interactions within our Discord server. Here’s what the moderation team does:

1.1 Active Moderation

Volunteer moderators actively monitor in-game chats, player behavior, and general interactions to ensure compliance with our Mountain Interactive Community Guidelines. Their duties include:

  • Monitoring Communication: In-game chat and other communication channels are regularly monitored to detect inappropriate language, harassment, or any behavior that violates the platform’s rules.

  • Responding to Reports: The moderation team reviews reports submitted by players about inappropriate behavior or safety concerns and takes action when necessary.

  • Promoting a Positive Environment: Volunteer moderators serve as role models within the community, encouraging respectful behavior and helping new players understand the rules.

1.2 Enforcing Rules and Taking Action

When rules are broken, the moderation team is responsible for enforcing consequences. Depending on the severity of the violation, they may issue:

  • Warnings: For minor rule violations, a warning is issued to help the player correct their behavior.

  • Temporary Bans: More serious infractions can result in temporary bans from certain games or communication channels.

  • Permanent Bans: In cases of severe or repeated violations, a permanent ban may be issued to protect the community.

2. The Role of the Employee Team

In addition to the volunteer moderators, Mountain Interactive’s Employee Team operates separately to provide advanced monitoring, support, and enforcement across the platform. Employees under strict Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) have access to more comprehensive tools and resources to ensure that all safety concerns are handled efficiently and effectively. This team includes leadership and support staff.

2.1 Advanced Monitoring

Unlike the volunteer team, employees have access to detailed data and tools that allow them to monitor account activity, player interactions, and overall platform safety more closely. They are responsible for:

  • Investigating Serious Incidents: Employee staff handle more severe incidents that require a deeper level of investigation, including cases of cyberbullying, harassment, or illegal content.

  • Handling Sensitive Data: Employees who operate under NDAs are entrusted with access to sensitive data, such as account logs, transaction histories, and communication records, allowing them to make informed decisions when handling disputes or safety concerns.

2.2 Escalating and Handling Major Issues

If a safety concern escalates beyond what the volunteer team can manage, the employee team steps in to take over the situation. They handle issues that involve violations of serious safety policies or illegal activity, working with law enforcement if necessary.

3. Reporting Tools for Players and Parents

Mountain Interactive provides several tools for players, parents, and community members to report inappropriate behavior or safety concerns. Here’s how to use the reporting system:

3.1 In-Game Reporting

Players can report inappropriate behavior directly within the game:

  • Report Players: By selecting the profile or username of the offending player, users can submit a report detailing the behavior they found inappropriate. This is then reviewed by the moderation team.

  • Submit Evidence: Players can attach screenshots or provide descriptions of the incident to help moderators better understand the issue and take appropriate action.

3.2 Discord Reporting

For issues occurring within Mountain Interactive’s Discord server, players can submit reports directly through Discord’s Support Ticket System:

  • Open a Ticket: Users can create a ticket specifying the issue they are reporting. Moderators review these tickets and respond accordingly.

  • Quick Response: Discord reports are often addressed promptly, as the moderation team actively monitors the server to maintain a respectful and safe environment.

3.3 Website Reporting

Players and parents can also file reports via Mountain Interactive’s website:

  • Safety Concerns: If you encounter inappropriate behavior, cyberbullying, or content that violates our guidelines, you can submit a detailed report through our website’s safety page.

  • Direct Contact: For more serious issues, you can also contact the Employee Team via the Mountain Interactive support email, allowing for a higher level of intervention if necessary.

4. How We Handle Reports

Once a report is submitted, Mountain Interactive’s team takes the following steps:

4.1 Investigating the Report

The moderation team first reviews the report and any evidence provided. Depending on the severity of the issue, reports may be escalated to the employee team for further investigation.

  • Reviewing Evidence: Moderators and employees examine chat logs, in-game interactions, and submitted evidence to understand the context of the reported issue.

  • Consulting Policies: All decisions are made in alignment with Mountain Interactive’s community guidelines, Perris Rules, and safety policies.

4.2 Taking Action

After the investigation, appropriate action is taken:

  • Issuing Warnings: If the violation is minor, the player may receive a warning, with an explanation of what behavior needs to be corrected.

  • Bans and Suspensions: For more serious or repeated offenses, temporary or permanent bans may be issued.

  • Escalation to Authorities: In cases involving illegal activities or severe safety concerns, Mountain Interactive works with law enforcement to resolve the issue.

4.3 Notifying Players

Both the reporting party and the offender are notified of the outcome:

  • Reporters: The player who filed the report will be informed when action has been taken, though specific details of the disciplinary action may not be disclosed for privacy reasons.

  • Offenders: Players who violate the rules will receive a notification detailing the actions taken against them, such as warnings or bans.

5. Encouraging a Safe and Respectful Environment

At Mountain Interactive, we believe that creating a safe and respectful community is a shared responsibility. We encourage all players and parents to:

  • Familiarize Themselves with Community Guidelines: Understanding and following the guidelines helps create a positive experience for all players.

  • Report Concerns Promptly: If you encounter anything that violates our rules, reporting it quickly ensures that it can be addressed in a timely manner.

  • Use Available Tools: Make use of privacy settings, blocking, and muting tools to manage interactions and prevent exposure to inappropriate behavior.

Final Thoughts

Mountain Interactive’s Safety Moderation and Reporting System is designed to keep the platform safe and welcoming for all players. With the combined efforts of our volunteer moderators and employee team, we ensure that all reports are taken seriously and handled appropriately. If you ever need to report an issue or have questions about the moderation process, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
